Ratbat is cool, but Springer takes the Show!Jan 11, 2009 Like the two pack with Roadbuster and Dirge, these are two old school transformers that are in new bodies, both of which are really good repaints of existing molds.Their vehicle modes shine, although Ratbat's is really neat because it looks like something from another planet.Springer in the old days had two alternate modes, but now has just one:a genuinly cool looking helicopter. In robot modes Springer is definately better than Ratbat.Springer has helicopter blades that attach to his left arm and can be spun around, and he also has key activated missles.Ratbat has a cool sword which are made of two panels,as well as a cyber key activated faction changing gimmick. Both have great posability, especially Springer.I really, really love these two packs, and hope they make more of them.[...]
Springer & RatbatDec 17, 2008 This toy uses the molds of 2 modern Transformer figures to "re-imagine" 2 older characters, Springer & Ratbat, who were introduced in the animated 1986 movie and featured in a series of comic books from 2003. Both toys come with spring-loaded weapons and are very well-executed. The Ratbat toy in particular looks REMARKABLY like its Dreamwave counterpart, which is amazing, especially considering that the figure wasn't originally BASED on that comics design (a design which traded in Ratbat's animal form for a more conventional robot mode)!
This 2-pack of action figures includes a comic book, only (much to my disappointment) the book has NOTHING to do with these characters or the story detailed on the back of the toy's package. This is, in fact, the ONLY downside to this purchase. Apparently, if you wish to read the CORRECT comic, you'll have to buy yet ANOTHER 2-pack --- Dirge & Roadbuster.
