Brilliant toy... when it worksApr 02, 2010 Got the kit the other day and was super excited. I put together the yellow man and then the pink lady, and they worked perfectly. I thought "this is the coolest toy ever!"
The next day I put together the red dude and his joints were so loose his legs keep falling off. I figured maybe this had to do with the fact that the red guy was a Generation 1 Alpha Male while the yellow guy was a Gen2 model (more poseable with elbow & knee joints) so I figured the green dude, who is a Gen2 would work as well as the yellow guy. Here's where things got REALLY disappointing.
I snapped the green guy together and his joints were so tight that he was completely unposeable. Any attempt to pose him or unsnap his joints resulted in his plastic turning white and breaking.
This isn't the nice, solid, precision engineered ABS plastic that LEGO has spoiled us with all these years. It seems there's a wide tolerance for error in their manufacture, and it's anyone's guess if you're going to get a dud or not. So figure that into your odds. 2 of mine worked great and are the coolest toys ever. 2 were complete duds. I guess I can make a white stripes video?
You may want to consider these other figures as they are twice the size and much easier to animate, plus better construction:

Fun to position the toysFeb 14, 2010 I bought this product for my son. He is really enjoying positioning the "band" in funny ways. We have other Stikfas, and while we enjoy them, we know to be very careful with the toys. They can be easily broken. I would not recommend this product for young children.
Get CreativeJan 22, 2009 You can make your own music video with these stick figures!
Using a webcam or other video capture system, you can animate the figures.
Putting the stickers on was a bit tricky, but it made the figures more realistic. Also, the figures come on a plastic runner/sprue system; so, a decent pair of sharp scissors is essential. Otherwise, watch out for sharp edges on the pieces, especially if children are handling them.
