Wife's favorite anniversary gift.Jul 15, 2010 Bought this for my wife for our anniversary. She absolutely loved it. We are not collectors so we were not concerned about minor differences between the picture and the actual product. She was just happy to have Mrs. Jett in our home and her office.

Good doll and fashion. Horrible hairJul 02, 2010 I got the doll in the mail opened it and thought it was disappointing. The fashion was on point. The face was a little more feminine than I thought. The hair was horrible. I had to take it out the box and fix the hair. Luckily I do One of a kind barbie originals. I had to comb and tease out hair out to make it look similar to the photo. It took me 10 minutes. The hair is a lot longer too. I wanted to cut it but didn't.
Not a Toy....a CollectableJun 30, 2010 This is a beautiful collectable doll for the adult collector. It is NOT a child's toy. For Joan Jett fans, or Barbie collectors this is a must! She is well made and the resembence is remarkable!Barbie Collector Joan Jett Ladies of the 80s Doll
I love my Joan Jett doll!Jun 14, 2010 I have my Joan Jett doll displayed and I look at her every day.
She is great! I'm sorry others don't seem to like her.

Your mileage WILL varyMay 24, 2010 I bought this doll because I like the dark hair/pale skin combo, and it will be great with my Hard Rock Cafe and Harley Barbies. I'm happy with the one that I got, but I can sure understand why some other collectors aren't. I think she looks like Joan Jett, but she doesn't look like the promo picture, and that's a problem.
This is a doll you're going to have to cherry-pick if you want one with decent hair for in-box display. I suspect they leave the factory looking OK, even great, but they get tossed around in shipping. This hair is too short to secure it in place to the packaging, so a lot of them get to their destinations looking like refugees from Fraggle Rock. Short Barbie hair like this usually has some stiff styling product to keep it in place; I don't know why they skipped it in this case. It's synthetic hair, sensitive to heat and being left in the same position for long periods of time. So even if you take it out of the box, you'll have some difficulty making the hair look right, because it has "memory." It's longer than Joan's shaggy do, as well as fluffier. (The Debbie Harry doll doesn't seem to have fared much better.)
The facial screening is different as well, with pink lips instead of the red in the promo picture. With this one, your mileage WILL vary. Between cleaning up images in Photoshop and unexplained changes halfway around the world, it's no wonder dolls end up like this. My doll is good, but it's anyone's guess what you'll get when you order. I'm enjoying mine, but I can't recommend it to anyone else.
